2024 Lent & Holy Week

Wow! January flew by and it's already February... and that means Lent 2024 is upon us! Wednesday, February 14th, yes Valentine's Day, is Ash Wednesday and the official beginning of Lent! We hope that you will join us at 6 pm on the 14th for our Ash Wednesday Service in the Sanctuary for the Imposition of Ashes to help us begin our Season of Lent in the Church. During Lent we will have two Lenten Bible Studies available to fit into your weekly schedule--the Tuesday Ecumenical Bible Study group which meets Tuesday mornings at 10 am in the Parlor, will begin a study by Tom Berlin, The Third Day, on February 13th--and the Wednesday evening Bible Study which meets Wednesdays at 6 pm, will begin a study by Adam Hamilton, The Walk, on February 21st.

In addition, we have added the Stations of the Cross, a series of paintings by artist Angie Trotter, depicting Jesus' journey to the crucifixion and ultimately to the Resurrection! These pieces are now hanging in our Sanctuary throughout the Season of Lent until after Easter, and you and the public are invited to come and spend time with each piece and contemplate Jesus' journey to the Cross Monday-Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. The Season of Lent will culminate in Holy Week, March 24th-30th, which will see the triumph of Easter and the Resurrection on Sunday March 31st! There will be Holy Week events throughout the Community Churches sponsored by the Blytheville Ministerial Alliance each day at noon. BFUMC will host the Community Service at noon on that Tuesday of Holy Week as well as a luncheon following the service. We will also have a Maundy Thursday Service at 6 pm on March 28th and a Good Friday Service at 6 pm on March 29th. What a wonderful way to kick off Spring and New Life! We hope that you will join us for this special season in our church!
